Rain, rain, rain was what I awoke to, I really tried for it to not put a dampener on the day of carnival celebrations ahead, but lets face it, no one likes the drowned rat look.
We headed into town to have a quick look aournd the shops hoping it would ease off, it didn't. We went to Bill's for lunch hoping it would ease off, it still didn't.
We decided that we would go anyway, I fought the rain and wore the outfit I wanted to, a Tye Dye dress which I thought was very carnival appropriate, with a leather jacket over the top (it's almost water proof).
Luckily my mother sent me up an umbrella, what a live saver!
Jacket - Miss Selfridge
Dress - Primark
Shoes - ASOS
Bag - H&M
Hat - H&M
The precession was as amazing as usual, very very different shaped and sized woman parading themselves in very revealing sparkly costumes. I find it amazing how much they celebrate themselves, I think it's great.
This one is my favourite...
The Prosecco was going down very well, and soon we had joined in on the parade (yes really) and followed one of the DJ floats, literally hundreds of people coming together to have a rave in the rain, dancing through the streets. God knows what the crowds that were watching thought.
Such a surreal experience, but one that I won't forget and also may never experience again!
I couldn't beleve how many people were there enjoying the carnival in the rain, it almost added extra fun to the atmosphere. It was like once you were wet, you loved it and wanted the rain to keep on coming, everyone was even chanting "rain rain rain".
I definitely changed my tune.
I have had the best day, which if you had asked me at lunch time I would of said was impossible. I'm so glad we weren't scared off by the rain, it's definitely taught me some things...
1. Always carry an umbrella
2. Presecco is a girl's best friend
3. And most importantly.. learn to dance in the rain. Always.
I'm ending my fun filled day in a cute bar in Hammersmith having a gossip with two of my best friends and laughing about todays events with happy hour strawberry shortcake cocktails. Idillic.
What a great way to spend the last bank holiday of the year, I can't wait for next year's carnival.
I'll keep you posted :)
