DIY: Christmas Pom Poms

Pom Pom's were definately a craze this past couple of years, and I love them. They remind me of summer tea parties and pretty weddings. For some thing so pretty and so effective I would have never though they would of been SO easy to make. You know me I do love a bit of DIY, so of course I thought why not give it ago, espicially as some of the prices in the shops are rather rediculous for something you can only really use once or twice before they become a squashed mess.

So Pretty.

Now as it's quickly approching christmas and everyone loves to decorate this time of year for a girls christmas dinner, romanic christmasy meal for two or a family feast I thought why not get a little festive, so I went on the hunt for not your not your norm tissue paper but CHRISTMAS tissue paper!

You will need:

15 Sheets of Tissue Paper - Different styles or all the same ( larger sheets make a larger pom pom)
scissors
fishing line
small nail, pin or bluetack tack

I went with the Pale pink, red, white and silver theme. You of course can choose whatever you fancy!

Pile all of your tissue paper neatly on top of eacother.

How cute is the Robbin and Stocking print!

Fold tissue into an accordian with the folds so they are evenly spaced measuring from 1 to 2 inches in width.  This will vary depending on how large your tissue paper is to begin with.

Fold the accordian in half and then wrap the fishing line around the middle of the accordian.  The fold will show you were to put the fishing line.

Cut the tips of the folds so that they are rounded at each end.  You can also cut them into a point if you prefer a pointy look pom pom.  Mine were rounded.

Spread out one half of the accordian and pull apart one sheet at a time from the bottom (be careful not to tear the sheets).

Continue this for each sheet so that you form a ball shape.

Turn over to the other half and repeat for the other half.Fluff out the tissue paper so that it is full all around the pom pom.

Tie the fishing line to the loop around the pom pom.  I used a double knot to secure it firmly. Leave the fishing line long.

Determine where you want the tissue pom poms hanging from the ceiling and then tie the fishing line to your nail so it reaches the right length.

Nail, pin or bluetack into place!

This got me really excited about Christmas I hope it does you too!

I made two different styles, a spikey snow flake using white and silver tissue paper and a round ball using pretty pinkss, greys and reds.

How easy was that? It took me 5 mins on each one and cost me £2.00 for them both! Not bad... go on try it out and get creative!!

I have an exciting post about a bloggers event I attended last night coming up next on justjessica...

I'll keep you posted :)
